We’re mindful that a garden usually has plants and features the homeowner actually cares about, not just grass and weeds to clear. Whether that’s a border you’ve been nurturing for years or a few specimen shrubs you don’t want touched, we’ll talk through what needs to stay exactly as it is and what can be tidied more freely before we start any work.

An overgrown garden almost always costs more to bring back under control than the same garden kept up consistently over the same period. Long grass takes longer to cut and often needs raking off afterwards, borders left unweeded for months need more intensive work to recover, and hedges left untrimmed for a year or two may need a full reclamation rather than a routine cut, see our Hedge & Bush Pruning pages for more on that. A regular schedule spreads the same amount of work out into smaller, cheaper visits rather than one large, more expensive catch-up job.

We maintain gardens ranging from small city courtyards in Jesmond and Heaton to larger grounds out towards Ponteland, Darras Hall, and the wider Northumberland countryside, along with commercial grounds for businesses and landlords. Every garden gets the same standard of care regardless of size.

Garden maintenance isn’t a flat, year-round routine, different jobs matter at different times: spring is generally about getting borders and lawns back into shape after winter, summer is the peak growing and mowing season, autumn brings leaf clearance and lawn scarification, and winter is often the quieter period for general tidying and structural work. We can advise on a sensible seasonal schedule if you’re setting up regular visits rather than booking one-offs.

One of the more common frustrations we hear about previous gardeners is unreliability, no-shows, missed slots, work that gets rescheduled repeatedly. As a family business built on 25 years of trade, we take turning up when we say we will seriously, since a maintenance schedule only actually works if the visits happen when they’re supposed to.

Pricing depends on the size of the garden, how overgrown or neglected it currently is, and whether you’re after a one-off visit or a regular arrangement (which usually works out more cost-effective per visit than repeated one-off bookings). We give a clear, agreed quote before starting any work.
