Walker’s older terraced streets carry the same compact garden layout common across much of inner Newcastle’s east end, while more recent riverside developments have brought newer housing with a different character and, often, more modest but well-designed outdoor space. Mature trees are more common on the area’s older, established streets than on newer developments still establishing their landscaping.
