Killingworth’s township and newer estates
The original Killingworth Township was one of the North East’s more notable pieces of post-war planned development, built around its central lake, and much of the surrounding housing dates from that era, with considerable newer estate development added around the fringes since. This mix means tree work here ranges from managing established planting from the township’s original landscaping to advising on newer gardens still finding their feet.

Killingworth has a genuine connection to railway history too, George Stephenson lived and worked in the area during his early career, and the wider Killingworth locality retains some of that historical character alongside its modern town centre and lake.

The original Killingworth Township was designed with landscaping and green space built into the plan from the outset, rather than added as an afterthought, and a lot of the mature tree cover we work on today is a direct result of that original planning. It’s a slightly different job to managing incidental garden trees that simply grew up over the decades, since the original layout and species choice were deliberate.
