Throckley’s village character
Like many former mining communities along this stretch of the Tyne Valley, Throckley’s older core reflects its colliery village origins, with later housing development around it. Garden sizes vary between the two, and the area’s proximity to open countryside towards Heddon-on-the-Wall gives some Throckley gardens a more rural edge than properties further into Newcastle.
On the Hadrian’s Wall corridor
Throckley’s position close to the Wall line gives the area a genuine sense of history, and its semi-rural western edge means we sometimes bring the same rural hedging and boundary approach here that we use further out in Northumberland.
A quiet, settled part of the Tyne Valley
Throckley’s pace is generally quieter than the busier parts of inner Newcastle, and a lot of the work we carry out here is routine, ongoing maintenance for gardens that have been cared for consistently over many years rather than large one-off catch-up jobs.
