Washington’s village structure and green spaces
Washington’s distinctive layout, built around discrete residential “villages” rather than one continuous town, means green space and landscaping were built into the original plan much as they were in Cramlington and Killingworth. This gives a fair amount of established tree cover across the town’s residential areas, alongside the more natural woodland and wetland habitat found around WWT Washington itself.
